Travel photography is always a blast and is a good chance for a photographer of any level to get out the camera and play around to get some nice and creative shots. I don't really offer any "services" as a travel photographer as it would be nice for you to ask me to tag along to whatever destinations you are headed, but it's not very practical. This part of my site is to share some of my photos I have taken on vacation and also give my viewers some ideas of how much fun it is to play around with your camera when on vacation. The first thing to do is figure out what camera gear you want to take. Like most people going on vacation, you have packed substantially more clothes than you will ever wear. So to add on a large amount of camera gear can be a pain. Some of the key things would be a lens or two, wide angle lens and good multi-purpose lens will usually do the trick. Lots of memory cards, and not just one or two big ones as they can get lost or damaged. Tripod or stand if light enough and compact enough. Items to get that pesky sand out of the camera and clean the lenses. Your flash and maybe a few flash modifiers. I highly recommend avoiding taking your brand new DSLR and the manual on your trip and expect to learn from the manual and develop great images. Sign up for a lesson by a pro to teach you the ins and outs of the camera and also give you pointers for taking good photos when on vacation. The best teacher for this in my opinion is Michael Willems (see my links pages). He has a great travel photography class he teaches among the many other photography classes he teaches to pro and non pro photographers. |
